Abstract

This study aimed to explore the factors influencing the application of the Drill method to increase students' learning motivation, examine its implementation in Islamic Religious Education at MI DDI Utara North Ammani, Mattiro Tasi Village, Mattiro Sompe District, Pinrang Regency, and assess the outcomes of this method on students' motivation and character development. Using Classroom Action Research (CAR) across four stages—planning, implementation, observation, and reflection—the study collected data through student observation sheets and questionnaires. The results showed that both internal factors (within students) and external factors (from their environment) significantly affect the learning process and motivation. The Drill method was applied by distributing question and answer cards to students, pairing them to find matches, and having the fastest groups present their answers in front of the class, followed by teacher-led conclusions. This interactive and structured approach led to a marked increase in students' learning motivation and character improvement, demonstrating that the Drill method effectively enhances engagement and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education at the school.
